The Arts: Cultivating the Whole Child
At Huron-Perth Catholic, we believe the Arts are an essential core subject. Beyond creative expression, arts education develops vital neural systems that enhance everything from fine motor skills to emotional balance and cognitive reasoning.
Why the Arts Matter
- Academic Growth: Learning in the Arts strengthens the fundamental skills used to master literacy and numeracy.
- Personal Development: Students build intuition, imagination, and dexterity, turning unique ideas into powerful forms of communication.
- Social Connection: By exploring music, dance, drama, and visual arts, students learn to respect diverse perspectives and understand the human experience.
Our K–12 Arts Programming
From Kindergarten to Grade 12, our students are encouraged to discover their gifts through both the formal curriculum and vibrant extra-curricular activities.
- Elementary: Students engage with the Arts to build foundational literacies and experience the joy of creative performance.
- Secondary: Our secondary schools are renowned for their vibrant Music, Drama, and Visual Arts departments. Students can explore specialized music courses—such as guitar and percussion—and join various bands and choirs. In addition, students can immerse themselves in dramatic productions and stagecraft, or refine their artistic voice through visual arts courses and gallery showcases.
Performance Opportunities: Led by passionate staff, students showcase their talents in school musicals, Christmas concerts, and local stage performances at St. Anne’s and St. Michael Catholic Secondary Schools.
