Through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), students at the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board have the opportunity to register in a skilled trade and hold a Registered Training Agreement (RTA) with an approved employer while still in high school. Eligible and motivated students may be invited to participate in Level 1 apprenticeship training during their secondary school years, delivered in partnership with our local college partners. This unique pathway allows students to graduate with their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) while also completing Level 1 apprenticeship training, giving them a significant head start toward a Red Seal trade. Students gain hands-on, industry-relevant experience, earn apprenticeship hours, and build strong connections to postsecondary education and the workforce, making this an exceptional opportunity for those committed to a skilled trades pathway.

OYAP – Focused Apprenticeship Skills Training (FAST)
The Focused Apprenticeship Skills Training (FAST) program is an accelerated stream within the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) designed for Grade 11 and 12 students who are eager to advance in skilled trades. FAST allows students to participate in additional co-operative education placements, gaining more hands-on apprenticeship experience while completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Eligible students who successfully complete the program receive the OYAP-FAST seal on their OSSD, recognizing their commitment and achievement in skilled trades training. To qualify, students must meet OYAP requirements, including being 15 years or older, having completed at least 14 credits, and enrolling as a secondary or continuing education student. FAST provides a unique opportunity for students to accelerate their skills, earn practical experience, and prepare for rewarding careers in the trades, all while fulfilling their high school graduation requirements.
